Faith heals

According to scripture belief in God heals the human body of disease. The book of James states that the prayers of a righteous man can accomplish much. (Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. (www. biblegateway. com NASB version). “Scientific Evidence proves that faith plays a part in the healing process because of the way the human body reacts to praying or being in a state of spirituality.
The parietal lobe is a mass of tissue that processes sensory input that is located at the top of the head, and it is responsible for several reactions that faith can bring. Scientific research was done to get an insight into what exactly goes on when one is involved in prayer”. (Amber Schwartz www. contributor. yahoo. com) is not "all in your head" anymore (to say that a sensation felt from prayer is only imaginary) but it actually affects the head. All of this was recorded in an article done for Time Magazine by Jeffrey Kluger p4 explain the role of complementary therapies in relation to orthodox treatments.

Kluger gave the results to the research done on the brain when it is being engaged in a moment of faith. "When people engage in prayer, it's the frontal lobes that take the lead, since they govern focus and concentration. During very deep prayer, the parietal lobe powers down, which is what allows us to experience that sense of having loosed our earthly moorings" (Kluger). To pray is not only an action of talking, but it actually is affecting the brain while doing so. How could just talking cause this part of the brain to respond in this way? Faith seems to go a lot deeper than just believing.

Further evidence according to this reprinted article originally appeared in American Psychologist, 2003, Vol 58[1], 64-74. (The following abstract of the original article appeared in record 2003-02034-006. )Empirical studies have identified significant links between religion and spirituality and health. The reasons for these associations, however, are unclear. Typically, religion and spirituality have been measured by global indices (e. g. , frequency of church attendance, self-rated religiousness and spirituality) that do not specify how or why religion and spirituality affect health.

The authors highlight recent advances in the delineation of religion and spirituality concepts and measures theoretically and functionally connected to health. They also point to areas for growth in religion and spirituality conceptualization and measurement. Through measures of religion and spirituality more conceptually related to physical and mental health (e. g. , closeness to God, religious orientation and motivation, religious support, religious struggle), psychologists are discovering more about the distinctive contributions of religiousness and spirituality to health and well-being.

This evidence proves the truth what James states that the prayers of a righteous man bring about healing. God’s word the bible has many scriptures backing up the scientific evidence found in the articles. Psalm 30:2? O Lord my God, I cried to You and You have healed me.

Isaiah 53:4-5 ? Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole. Psalm 34:15, 17? The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles. Psalm 46:1? God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble. Psalm 103:1-3 BLESS (AFFECTIONATELY, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name! Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases. Psalm 147:3.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows]. Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. Exodus 23:25 You shall serve the Lord your God; He shall bless your bread and water, and will take sickness from your midst. Proverbs 3:7-8 Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil.

It shall be health to your nerves and sinews, and marrow and moistening to your bones. Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise. Matthew 9:20-22 And behold, a woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His garment; for she kept saying to herself, If I only touch His garment, I shall be restored to health. Jesus turned around and, seeing her, He said, Take courage, daughter! Your faith has made you well. And at once the woman was restored to health.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers. Mark 16:17-18 And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; they will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.

Matthew 4:23-24 And He went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every weakness and infirmity among the people. So the report of Him spread throughout all Syria, and they brought Him all who were sick, those afflicted with various diseases and torments, those under the power of demons, and epileptics, and paralyzed people, and He healed them. Matthew 8:16-17 When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to health all who were sick.

And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases. James 5:14-15 Is anyone among you sick? He should call in the church elders (the spiritual guides). And they should pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Lord’s name. And the prayer [that is] of faith will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
